What did you want to be when you were younger? Please tell us about how those dreams transformed into your present/ future dreams and achievements.
When I was younger, I wanted to be a teacher...and then a lawyer...and then ?????...I had no idea. What I quickly realized was that I love connecting to empathy and the layers of the human mind. Why do we do or say what we do? With that, I began to pursue acting. Allowing myself to pursue my dreams expanded my interests. I am now also an entrepreneur and business partners with my best friend. Following my bliss and being true to myself lead me to the right connections and opportunities.
What barriers or hurdles did you overcome in trying to follow your dreams?
People pleasing. Many times I felt worried that I wouldn’t be approved by my peers or that I would look foolish. I worried about every decision because I wanted to make sure that everyone was happy and that I fit in with what the world wanted to see from me. When I let this go, I became free to follow my passions and what excited me.
What advice would you give someone following in your footsteps?
Community is so important. Surround yourself with people you admire and who encourage and lift you up. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. We are in this world to have relationships. Those healthy relationships will keep you grounded and help you to continue to move forward if ever you start to doubt your dreams. And do the same for others. :)
